Reporting to the Director of Quality & Regulatory Affairs, the Quality Systems Manager will play an important role in maintaining and improving the quality system for Nature’s Way of Canada.   The Quality Systems Manager is a key member of the Quality and Regulatory Affairs team and is focused on cultivating a total quality culture and team-based approach to continuous improvement. The Quality Systems Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the quality system meets regulatory requirements for all markets in which Nature’s Way of Canada currently markets and leads growth and development for new market opportunities.  They will also ensure compliance to any current and future third-party quality standards. This position requires someone who is self-motivated, detail-oriented and works well both independently and in a team.
Quality Systems Management
The Quality Systems Manager’s essential duties shall include:
  • Managing and improving the change control process.
  • Managing and improving the document control system.
  • Managing and improving the deviation and Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) processes
  • Lead all regulatory inspections performed by the US FDA, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and the Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate
  • Represent the company in all audits performed by customers and third-party quality and sustainability certifiers.
  • Manage and improve the internal audit program.
  • Perform quality systems audits of contract manufacturers and raw material suppliers.
  • Develop and implement quality agreements for contract manufacturers and raw material suppliers.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement and commitment to good manufacturing practices (GMP)
  • Work with other departments to find opportunities to implement new standardized processes to maximize efficiency and improve quality throughout the organization.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies & applicable laws including interviewing, employee training, appraising performance, addressing complaints & resolving problems
  • Oversees the work of the Quality Assurance Specialist
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in a scientific discipline is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a progressive quality role within a GMP regulated industry with a focus on systems development and management is required.
  • Extensive quality systems experience working under the quality requirements for foods, Canadian Natural Health Products, US dietary supplements.
  • Quality and/or regulatory experience working in an ISO 9001, ISO 13485 or Canadian/US Drug requirements would be considered an asset.
  • Certified lead auditor (preferred) or past experience conducting audits
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to proactively and independently analyze and identify root cause of issues and follow through to successful resolution of issues.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience would be considered an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Great organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • A “can-do” attitude and collaborative approach with the ability to reliably meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to read and understand scientific and technical documentation.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with preparing and conducting quality systems training
